What I find is that the variation in cost is almost always a reflection of the variation in disease. Mild haemorrhoids, confirmed on examination, can often be managed with an in-clinic procedure. More advanced prolapse, or disease that has not settled with conservative treatment, requires surgery under general anaesthesia. The type of procedure, whether you need to stay in a hospital ward, the type of ward you choose, and what your insurance covers all follow from that clinical picture.
